PNS Flame Retardant vs. Halogenated Flame Retardants

PNS ISN'T JUST BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT...

We have used PNS FR to flame retard numerous types of plastic polymers.  We specialize in EVA, TPU, PP and Nylon. Our results are as good as or exceed results for equivalent halogenated and other flame retardants.  Please see our chart below:

PNS flame retarded EVA verses MGOH2 flame retarded EVA

  • Better mechanical properties at equivalent or higher LOI

  • High speed extrusion during manufacturing.

  • Provides thermal barrier protection. Please see our polymer videos for a demonstration of this unique characteristic.

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES

The below test results are typical for our flame retarded EVA. The testing was performed at an independent third party testing facility (PCE in North Carolina). Note the excellent break strength and elongation.

40% PNS FR in a base of EVA (LVAX 260 by DuPont). LOI for this compound is 43.

50% PNS FR in a base of EVA (LVAX 260 by DuPont). LOI for this compound is 52.
